Winter Moon Roots Farm
Started over 16 years ago by farmer Michael Docter, Winter Moon Roots was and is still known for offering quality carrots, beets, parsnips, turnips, and radishes from December through March (hence the name). In 2009, Rosendo Santizo began working at Winter Moon Roots and eventually took over operations in 2022. Each year, Winter Moon Roots wait as long as possible to harvest their produce to ensure their produce is the freshest and sweetest available. This is especially enticing during the winter months when fresh flavors are sought after. Not only are they a certified organic operation, but Winter Moon Roots also aims to minimize their carbon footprint as best as they can. Instead of using a classic refrigerator, their system pulls in cold air from the outside to keep their produce fresh. This method of cooling uses significantly less energy, and the energy it does use is provided by solar panels.
