Established as a dairy farm in 1918, Verrill Farm has become well-known for their annual Harvest Festivals, mouth-watering baked goods, and delicious produce. In it’s 104 years of operation, the farm has gone through many milestones, including: placement under an Agricultural Preservation Restriction, which safeguards it from development; the transition to produce, along with the construction of its own farmstand; and the many community events that Verrill Farm hosts annually. Verrill Farm emphasizes sustainability. They practice cover cropping to maintain soil health and organic matter, and integrated pest management to ensure their soil is nutritious and their crops are healthy. The farmstand itself is designed to minimize its environmental impact: the structural members are made of recycled wood; and construction design and materials aim for low energy use and low maintenance. Some of their energy needs are directly met through solar panels and recycling heat exchangers. While you can only enjoy their Corn & Tomato Festival annually, some of their vegetables are available throughout the entire year.
