Autumn Hills Orchard produces just about anything that grows on a tree: they have over 30 varieties of apples; peaches; plums; grapes; and pears. In the summer, they alternate between pick-your-own raspberries and blueberries–an activity no New Englander can turn down in the warmer months. The land has been used as an orchard now for many years–some of the trees are over forty years old–but Ed and Kim Herdiech have recently entered the business. Ed worked in the Boston software industry for nearly 30 years, while Kim worked 21 years at the Groton School. They purchased the farm in 2021, seeking a more community-based life in their retirement. Even though Ed’s first time on a tractor was this past year, the quality of their product is better than ever. It is no surprise that Travel Awaits Now (@travelawaitsnow) recognized Autumn Hills Orchard as one of the top Massachusetts orchards; its views of the surrounding landscapes are breathtaking and their apples even better.
