Upswing Farm is a small, diversified certified organic vegetable farm that got its start leasing land in Ashland, Holliston and Franklin. After a two year process, the farm was able to secure a permanent location in Pepperell, MA. Brittany and Kevin value healthy people and healthy environments over profit, and use constantly evolving and innovative methods to grow the most nutritious food possible with the least environmental impact. They use crop production methods that build soil health, like composting, reduced tillage and cover cropping and never use chemical pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. Instead, they rely on methods to prevent pest and disease infestation such as: crop rotation, pest exclusion, using regionally appropriate planting dates and varieties, growing healthy crops with resistance, appropriate plant spacing, multiple successions of crops, and, on occasion, hand picking of pests. Upswing Farm offers a year-round CSA, regularly attends the Ashland Farmers Market, and offers their product wholesale as available.
